John was just a young man when he joined the Army and yet he has seen service on the frontline in Afghanistan and been under fire. Veterans Aid is helping him adjust to civilian life.
Stan Constable
Stan Constable was one of the few who stayed behind to allow the many to escape at Dunkirk in 1940.
Captured by the Germans, Stan spent the rest of the war as a POW.
He is now a Chelsea Pensioner and is still helping his comrades by coming to Veterans Aid and chatting to staff and residents over a cuppa about his fascinating experiences.
