Glittering Prizes for Gala Supporters Veterans Aid, Kidscape and The Mayhew Animal Home benefited from the sales of special Royal Circle tickets, which came with free champagne and entry into a fund raising raffle. A further 60 supporters went on to a dinner at The Ritz with the Lord Mayor of Westminster Susie Burbridge and comedian Ruby Wax. Prizes auctioned at this event raised even more money for the three organisations that attracted the Lord Mayor’s attention for their work amongst veterans in crisis, abused children and animals. Trustees and members of Veterans Aid who attended the play mixed with guests to talk about the charity’s work and volunteers from its New Belvedere House Hostel turned out to help with collections on the night. CEO Dr Hugh Milroy said “This event was the culmination of months of hard work by the Lord Mayor and her team of volunteers. I know how much effort went on behind thescenes to make this spectacular evening happen. We are all busy, hands-on charities and were only able to support it because everyone pulled together. We made new friends at The Mayhew and Kidscape and are humbled by the efforts of people who sourced and supplied prizes and put in extra hours to ensure that everything ran smoothly. “Ours is a charity at the heart of Westminster and we are honoured to have earned the Lord Mayor’s support during her year of office.” *A ‘thank you’ film featuring The Lord Mayor and others who have done so much for Veterans Aid can be seen on the charity’s website home page (www.veterans-aid.net) and at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5OJ2x8YgBE
