New Belvedere HouseWe have a hostel for the ex-Service homeless, New Belvedere House in the East end of London.

Who are the homeless? Anyone when misfortune strikes and nobody cares.

* Very young lads whose parents, if they know who they are, could not care less about them.

* Older men who have lost their jobs or business and have become destitute.

* Very old and sick men who should be in care but cannot be provided for because the local authority budget is overspent.

* Is it just men? Sadly not, and some of the lasses are very young and pregnant.

Tales of human misery are endless but this is an account of help and success. We manage to re-house a large proportion of our hostel residents every year and while they are with us, we also help them with education, training and employment.

Our hostel offers single room accommodation of a high standard. There is a TV lounge, a recreation room, multi-gym, conservatory and an internal patio together with in-house laundry facilities.

The hostel maintains a service ethos, which fosters comradeship and mutual support. The staff operate an “open door” policy and their training includes counselling, first aid and health and safety aspects.  Residents are assisted to develop their potential and regain their place in society.  Help includes training, medical and other treatment, specialist
